Infrastructure that stays up when it matters
Software is only as good as the infrastructure underneath it. The unglamorous parts — deployment, monitoring, backups, security patching — are the difference between a system that quietly works for years and a 2am phone call in your busiest week.
I set infrastructure up properly from day one: automated deployments, real monitoring with alerts, tested backups, and security that assumes the internet is exactly as hostile as it is.
What gets handled
Deployment pipelines
Code ships through automated, repeatable pipelines — every deploy tested, logged and reversible. No FTP heroics.
Monitoring & alerting
Uptime, errors and performance watched around the clock, with alerts that reach a human before customers notice.
Backups that restore
Automated backups, tested restores. A backup you’ve never restored from is a hope, not a plan.
Hardening & patching
Servers locked down, dependencies patched, access controlled — the basics done consistently, which is what security mostly is.
Who this is for
Usually one of two situations: a system I’m building for you, where infrastructure is simply included and done right — or an existing system you’ve inherited that nobody fully understands anymore. For the second kind, I start with an infrastructure review: what exists, what’s fragile, and a ranked list of what to fix first.
Fair questions, straight answers
Which cloud do you work with?
AWS primarily, alongside Cloudflare, Vercel and plain Linux servers where they fit better. The choice follows your workload and budget — not a partnership badge.
Can you take over infrastructure someone else set up?
Yes. I’ll map what exists, document it (often for the first time), and stabilise the fragile parts before changing anything. No rip-and-replace unless the audit genuinely justifies it.
Do you offer ongoing management?
Most clients keep a monthly arrangement covering monitoring, updates and small improvements. Others take the documentation and run it in-house — both are fine, and the handover is built for either.
